“Painting is a dialogue between me and myself – a kind of self revelation. A tension prevails till the brush stops, and then the mind is at rest. The power lies in the feeling that manifests itself in various forms and surfaces. It transforms into a pictorial language that needs to be experienced more than understood”, says Sujata Dharap, artist and muralist.
Over the last 27 years, Sujata’s works include innumerable paintings and more than 150 murals. She has travelled extensively in the US, Singapore, Indonesia and France to absorb art and architecture.
For Sujata, creating images that emerge spontaneously on the canvas is exhilarating. She believes that art becomes richer when it is accessible to all and can be enjoyed by everyone. Sujata lives and works in Pune.
A graduate from Symbiosis Institute of Design in Graphic Design and later pursuing my passion for hands on experimentation in a Luxury product design course in NIFT, I found my love for metals during a jewelry module.
About my work : I customize walls according to the specific area in question and taking in consideration the preferences of the client – budget, preference of material, color/design choices, abstract/natural elements, if the installation needs to be kid friendly and/or easy to clean etc.
I love taking inspiration from nature, but I also like working with geometrical abstract designs.
I have installed/designed artwork for homes, weekend homes, restaurants and corporate offices.
My designs can be anything from quirky to classy to contemporary to a mix of these.
The first ever project I did was a butterfly wall – so butterflies are close to my heart. Working with metals makes me the happiest, but I also work with acrylic, wood, MDF, wire, paint or anything really that catches my attention. Ceramic is something I want to get involved with in the near future. I also love to paint so I try to add a personal touch to projects when required.
Even though I focus on wall art, I will be coming up with a range of home decor items (coffee-tables, mirrors, lights, dining tables) which have a lot of metal detail. There’s still a long way to go and I intend to enjoy the journey every bit.
I travel a lot and I also want to come up with a range of travel pieces for homes from inspirations from my travels.
I focus on custom wall art but the online sector is something everyone needs to tap. So I have recently started selling copper and brass butterflies online which come in packs of 7 or 10 and are easy to install.
Custom Design Price Range : Starts from 25,000/- till 3,00,000/- or more.
Online Range : 3500/- up to 1,00,000/-
